Cave Art: Rendering Form
Grade: 6
The purpose of this project was for students to refine their technical drawing abilities and to be able to design a well-orchestrated composition. This student was very patient, exacting and thoughtful when it came to designing and coloring her final project, and I was impressed with her attention to detail and to the project requirements. She did an excellent job and effectively utilized space, line, color and form.

This project was the 7th and 8th grade equivalent to the cave art that 5th and 6th grade had produced. The higher grade levels were required to complete a more sophisticated version of cave art, having to incorporate their designs onto clay using a stencil.
This student did an excellent job in terms of form, design and color usage. It is a visually appealing project that utilizes movement, line, form, emphasis and shape.

Monet I: Master of Light
Grade: 6
This project was an exercise in cooperative learning.
Students were assigned tasks, and each task had to be completed properly and in a timely fashion to successfully make this color wheel. Students had to
design a layout for their color wheel, mix their colors appropriately to achieve all twelve hues of color, divide the work load so that everyone was involved and function cohesively as a group to achieve success. Students worked in independent groups and had to incorporate skills of problem solving, individual
accountability, resource management and positive interaction.

Monet II: Appropriation
Grade: 7
The student to whom this project belongs to did an excellent job in following directions and using class time most efficiently. He did exactly what was asked of him and received a perfect grade for his efforts. The top left window utilizes primary colors, while the top right window displays only secondary colors. The lower left window depicts a complementary color scheme, and the lower right window uses an analogous color scheme. This student has proven that he understands color theory and is able to incorporate his knowledge to create visually appealing art work.

Monet III: A Lasting Impression
Grade: 8
I chose to photograph these projects because they exemplified the requirements I gave the class for this project. Each print demonstrates an incredible use of movement, and a beautiful representation of well-planned color interactions. Both of these prints contain an adequate use of texture and project a feeling that there is energy present within the ink.

In addition to this, I found it ironic that these
students did not consider themselves artistic, and it proves a powerful point that a person does not have to be technically gifted or accomplished in drawing or painting to produce beautiful art work.
